Explain The Different Techniques For Hair Transplantation

4 min read

Hair transplant is a remarkable opportunity for individuals experiencing hair loss and is the most favored solution for this issue. These procedures are gaining significant attention worldwide due to their permanent and remarkably natural-looking results. In the past, hair transplant techniques were quite primitive and unable to provide natural outcomes. However, with constant advancements in hair transplant techniques, it is now possible to achieve extremely natural results with a high success rate.

Hair transplant in India has become widely accessible and popular due to the increasing demand for this procedure. India has emerged as a top destination for hair transplant tourism, primarily because of its highly affordable hair transplant cost in India. Moreover, several renowned hair transplant clinics in India maintain international standards, making it an attractive choice for individuals seeking this treatment.

At Medispa hair transplant clinic, we cater to hundreds of hair loss patients from around the world every year, achieving a high success rate. With over 10000 successful hair transplants and exceptional results, we have gained worldwide recognition for our excellence in this field and our state-of-the-art facilities.

Hair transplant is an outpatient surgical procedure that involves extracting hair follicles from your own body and implanting them in the bald area to achieve a pleasing appearance. These hair grafts, taken from specific parts of your body, provide permanent hair roots. The transplantation of these permanent hair roots into the bald area ensures long-lasting results. However, it is important to note that hair transplantation is only suitable if you have sufficient hair density to adequately cover the bald region.

There are two primary techniques used for hair transplant, both of which have been advanced to deliver the best possible outcomes. These techniques differ based on their graft harvesting methods and are explained as follows:

  1. The strip technique, also known as FUT, involves harvesting a strip of hair from the donor area and then dissecting it further to obtain individual hair grafts. These grafts are carefully handled and transplanted to the recipient bald area. To minimize scarring, a trichophytic closure technique is used, which overlaps the incision edges and ensures almost invisible scarring.
  2. On the other hand, the FUE technique involves extracting hair grafts directly from the donor area using a punch-like surgical device. These grafts are then transplanted to the recipient bald area. This procedure requires a high level of precision as it involves assuming the location of the hair grafts under the skin, making it an almost blind procedure. Inexperienced hands can cause significant damage to the valuable hair grafts.

The choice between FUT and FUE techniques depends on the extent of baldness and the desired density of hair transplant. FUT is preferred for extensive bald cases or high-density hair transplants, as it can successfully harvest approximately 3000-3500 hair grafts. On the other hand, FUE is the technique of choice for initial bald cases and facial hair transplants, providing around 2000-2500 hair grafts without violating the safe zones.

Advanced hair transplant techniques in India

There are a few clinics that have embraced these advanced techniques and consistently deliver excellent results. Medispa hair transplant clinic is among the select few centers in India that are renowned for their world-class hair transplant outcomes achieved through the use of advanced techniques. These advancements primarily focus on achieving maximum hair density and natural-looking results.

  1. Combination technique of FUT and FUE: Some of the advanced techniques introduced in the field of hair transplant include the combination technique of FUT and FUE. This technique was developed to provide adequate coverage to advanced cases in a single session or to achieve high-density hair transplant. It involves harvesting a significant number of hair grafts through the FUT technique, followed by extracting the remaining grafts using the FUE hair transplant technique. This technique allows for the harvesting of over 4000 hair grafts and also offers the option of multiple sessions for future hair loss.
  2. Combination technique of FUT, FUE, and BHT: It involves extracting hair grafts from areas other than the scalp and transplanting them to the desired bald area. By incorporating BHT with FUT and FUE, a higher yield of hair grafts can be achieved, effectively covering advanced baldness in a single session. This technique helps prevent damage during the extraction process, as each hair graft can be harvested from a greater distance. The preferred area for extracting hair grafts from the body is under the chin, using a 0.75 mm punch surgical device that ensures minimal scarring.
  3. Rapid harvest and early implantation technique:  There a drawback of the conventional FUE technique, which is the higher damage rate of hair grafts. This is because the pulling of hair follicles during extraction makes the grafts fragile. The longer these grafts remain outside the body, the greater the chances of damage. To overcome this issue, Dr. Suneet Soni has adopted a recent technique where the hair grafts are harvested after the recipient bald site has been prepared with slits. This reduces the time the grafts spend outside the body and minimizes the risk of damage.
  4. “No roots touch technique”: It is a method specifically designed to minimize damage to hair grafts during transplantation. Given the delicate nature of hair grafts, it is crucial to handle them with utmost care. To mitigate the risk of damage, a new technique called the “No roots touch technique” has been introduced, allowing for hair graft transplantation without touching the roots. This innovative approach utilizes a specialized instrument known as the Keep implanter.
